ἐγκύκλ-ιος , ον, also α, ον Orph.A.981: (κύκλος):—
A.circular, round, “χοροί” E.IT429 (lyr.), Aeschin.1.10; “τὸ ἐ. σῶμα” Arist.Cael.286a11; ἐ. κίνησις, φορά, motion in a circle, ib.293a11, 296a35; “δρόμημα θεῶν” Corp.Herm.3.3. Adv. -ίως in a circle, “φέρεσθαι” Arist.Mete.339a12, cf. Euc.Phaen.p.2 M., Hero Aut.11.8, Plu.2.1004c; “καθῆσθαι” Asp.in EN10.31.
II. revolving in a cycle, recurrent: hence, at Athens, λῃτουργίαι ἐ. public services required regularly every year, opp. to those required at uncertain times, D.20.21; ἐ. δίκαια rights common to all citizens, Id.25.74.
III. ordinary, everyday, “ἐν τοῖς ἐ. καὶ τοῖς καθ᾽ ἡμέραν γιγνομένοις” Isoc.3.22, cf. 8.87, Arist.Pol.1269b35; ἐ. διακονίαι everyday duties, ib. 1263a21; “τὰ ἐ. καὶ πολιτικά” Epicur.Sent.Vat.58; “ἡ ἐ. διοίκησις” IG12 (5).653.56 (Syros, i B.C.); ἐ. ἀναλώματα ib.1.329; ἐ.
